Combining Business and Pleasure in Brisbane

If you’re travelling to Brisbane soon for a work trip, then the biggest mistake you could possibly make is to work too much and miss all of the culture, food, music and incredible nature that this city has to offer. There’s no reason you can’t mix business with pleasure! Be sure to shut that laptop whenever possible and treat yourself to the following experiences in Queensland’s sunny capital.

Jog along the river

Brisbane has some fantastic running tracks if you feel like burning off some energy before your meetings for the day. From Punthill Apartment Hotel’s Spring Hill location you can head across Story Bridge, down through Kangaroo Point Cliffs Park and run along the river, cross the river at Goodwill Bridge and head back up through leafy South Bank (a total of approximately 8km). You could even cool of at the famous man-made Streets Beach on the way! The Roma Street Parklands are also a beautiful option for an early morning jog surrounded by greenery.

Find your new favourite coffee spot

If your apartment is close to the city centre, then you’ll have the perfect opportunity to pick a favourite coffee spot from amongst Brisbane’s famously good cafés. We love the Spring Hill Deli & Produce, Two Black Birds Cafe and Wicked Corner Café, which are all just a few minutes from our Spring Hill apartments. There’s simply no better way to work than sitting at a trendy inner-city spot, savouring an espresso and some smashed avo.

Find Brisbane’s vibrant art scene

Get ready for some colourful culture, because the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) and the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) are must-sees while you’re in town. You can easily lose a morning or whole day in South Bank between QAGOMA, the Queensland Museum and Science Centre and the Queensland Performing Arts Centre. Best of all, many of the history and art exhibitions are free. Of course, there’s also a thriving local arts and music scene to check out in the city. See Visit Brisbane for this week’s art exhibitions, and take a look at Bandsintown to find local and international acts playing near you.

Wine and dine at Brissie’s best restaurants

It’s great having your own kitchen at your budget long term accommodation in Brisbane, but don’t let this stop you from taking yourself on a date night at some of the city’s most beloved dining spots. We have Farah Restaurant within walking distance, which does amazing Persian fare, as well as Creole Soul Kitchen which makes hearty and low-fuss food. You might also venture a little further afield to the Post Office Dining Room for classy pub fare, or Urbane Restaurant for their delightful multi-course menus.

Of course, when you’re done exploring you’ll want to come home to comfortable and budget-friendly short or long term accommodation in Brisbane’s centre. Punthill’s Spring Hill apartments offer free WiFi, secure undercover parking and your own work station in modern surroundings.
