Your Guide To Having The Ultimate New Year’s Eve Celebration In Brisbane!

This year’s New Year’s Eve celebrations are set to be very special. We’ll be entering a new decade in 2020, which means the sunny city of Brisbane is going to be having a party like never before. Read on to find out the best places to watch the fireworks and ring in the new year.

Brisbane River

If you’re looking for a spot that has everything, it’s hard to go past the Brisbane River. Choose between the River and South Bank area venues for a spectacular view of the night skies which will be featuring fireworks at both 8:00 pm for the kids and midnight for the grown-ups. If you feel like grabbing a bite beforehand, there are plenty of dining options with nearby restaurants in the CBD and along the river. Make sure you get there early to snag a good vantage point, but we particularly recommend:

  • South Bank: the most well-known vantage point at River Quay, Clem Jones Promenade and Streets Beach
  • Howard Smith Wharves: industrial wharves with events running from midday including pop-up food trucks and live music
  • Eagle Street Pier: a quieter location with beautiful views of the fireworks over Story Bridge
  • Portside Wharf: the perfect choice for foodies with a wide variety of restaurants on offer, plus live music to serenade you while you enjoy your meal

Cloudland

Party animals are sure to enjoy a night at Cloudland – one of the most iconic nightlife locations in Fortitude Valley. They are famous for their New Year’s celebrations every year, and 2019 is set to be even bigger and better than before.  Choose from a number of different packages including the Elyx Cocktail Lounge (a Gatsby-inspired retro celebration with live music and cocktails), the Crystal Garden Soiree (a wonderland that lets you enjoy a glass of spritz by a man-made waterfall), and the Play Among the Stars Ball (a glamorous VIP ballroom filled with music, canapes and drinks).

Customs House

Those looking for a beautiful backdrop will love the New Year’s Eve celebrations at Customs House. Gaze at the view from the riverside terrace and choose between two events that will be running on the night. The New Year’s Eve Dinner will feature a delicious five-course meal from some of the city’s best chefs, while the New Year’s Eve Moet Rosé Garden will delight you with beers and bubbles served alongside decadent canapes.

The Elephant Hotel

Want to support some local, homegrown talent? Then head over to the Elephant Hotel in Fortitude Valley. Port Royal has been announced as their headline act and countdown to the New Year, while local favourites Good Will Remedy, Whiskey Grinn and King Coyote will be serenading you throughout the night. Entry is free all night long and, with bar service going till 5 am, this is a night you’ll be sure to remember.

Want to celebrate this New Year in style? Head to Punthill to explore a range of convenient accommodation options in the Brisbane CBD, where you’ll not only have spectacular views but easy access to some of the best events as well.
