Mirage Project [iceberg]
Is it cold enough for you at Federation Square?
Melbourne has recently experienced a severe case of frostbite as it makes way for the Mirage Project [iceberg] at Federation Square. Following his seven weeks expedition to the icy continent of Antarctica, Visual Artist David Burrows was moved to share the beauty of icebergs with the rest of Melbourne.
Burrows, as 2011’s Antarctic Division Arts Fellow, managed to capture the beauty of these icebergs using a stereoscopic camera system, which allowed him to photograph these giant geological monuments in 3D. The result is an installation using binocular-shaped viewers positioned around Melbourne’s iconic Federation Square to recreate the actual scale of the icebergs. Don’t miss this exhibition that shows from August-September 2012.
